Object Description

This award was given to Ronald Reagan in 1978 to honor his published article by the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge. This information is relayed on the front side of the award. 

On the back side the award states "Impress on the mind of every man from first to lowest the importance of the cause and what it is they are contending for." - George Washington. This quote is positioned underneath an Eagle with wings spread out. The eagle is wearing a shield on its chest, it has a ribbon in its mouth, a laurel branch, in its right claw and four arrows in its left claw. Above the eagle, there are 13 stars outlining the top of the award. 

At the center of the award is a depiction of a building, below this reads "For outstanding achievement in bringing about a better understanding of the American Way of Life" 

This metal award can be placed into its wooden stand.
