Object Description

Photograph of Ronald Reagan taken in 1941 during his visit to Eureka, Illinois. Ronald Reagan attended Eureka College between 1928 and 1932. He was a member of the TKE's Iota Chapter during his time in Eureka and served as its President in 1928. Reagan was also active in school including theater and football. At the time of the photograph, Ronald Reagan was working as an actor in Hollywood.

The black and white photograph shows Ronald Reagan standing in a field with his arms crossed wearing a long sleeve white button-up shirt, and black pants. This is one of the rare photographs where Reagan is wearing his glasses as he was nearsighted since childhood. When he began acting regularly he switched to contacts.

Reagan stands talking to a gentleman whose gaze is upon Reagan. He wears a white long sleeve shirt, light colored pants, dark shoes, and rolled down socks. From his appearance it gives the impression that this man has something to do with Eureka College Athletic department and potentially this was Reagan viewing the school's football practice.

There stands at least one gentleman to the right of Reagan in the background and one woman in the distance to the left of the photograph. There are several cars parked along the tree line behind Reagan and the man he's speaking to.

At this point, the identity of the individuals is unknown, apart from Reagan.
